Hong Kong Simple Public Housing Project SSM518
The Hong Kong Simple Public Housing Project SSM518 is one of the first major livelihood initiatives under Hong Kong’s “Simple Public Housing” program. Jointly undertaken by the Hip Hing–China Railway Construction Joint Venture, the project provides interim housing for public rental housing applicants who have been on the waiting list for three years or more. It also marks Hong Kong’s first high-rise modular construction project using full MiC (Modular Integrated Construction) with a fully steel structural system. The project spans three sites: Yau Uk Road in Yuen Long, Area 3A in Tuen Mun, and Choi Hing Road in Ngau Tau Kok. With a total gross floor area of approximately 187,100 square meters, it comprises over 9,300 MiC units. About 90% of the construction work is prefabricated off-site in factories, enabling highly efficient on-site assembly.
