Shenzhen University of Technology is one of the key projects outlined in Guangdong Province’s “13th Five-Year Plan” for education and has been listed as a major municipal project in Shenzhen for three consecutive years, as well as a key initiative under the city’s “14th Five-Year Plan.” The university leverages world-class scientific research and educational resources from institutions such as the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and adopts the operational model of leading global science and engineering universities. It focuses on emerging disciplines in engineering (“New Engineering”) and medicine (“New Medicine”), driving integrated and coordinated development across education, science and technology, and talent cultivation—the “trinity” strategy. In 2024, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of Shenzhen University of Technology, marking Shenzhen’s arrival of its own “new-type research-intensive university.”
